Next week is going to be crazy! It starts Saturday with Lil' Jon's birthday. We don't have any real plans for that day, but it's important to acknowledge that he's turning six. Monday is Valentine's Day, Wednesday is Lauren's birthday, Thursday morning we're hosting the JAG playgroup, Thursday afternoon a Realtor is coming to see the house because our landlords are going to sell it when we move. Friday through Sunday mom and dad will be in town to see the kids and celebrate Lauren's Bday, and that following Monday Lil' Jon is having surgery to remove his newly discovered bladder stones.
All that and I've got to clean the house and I'm determined to actually make Lauren's Dora birthday cake. We usually buy her cake, but I told her I'd make her one this year since I thought I'd have free time.

Nursery done!
When Nick was born we didn't make him a nursery at first because our house only had three bedrooms, one of which was Patrick's office. He slept in the bassinet in our room for the first few months anyway. Then we learned we were moving so he got a neutral bedding and his crib stayed in Lauren's room until we moved. When we found out we were having another boy I decided to buy all the accessories and fix up the boys' room. This baby will sleep in our room for the first few months too, but he'll move in with Nick eventually. Everything is done I think so here's the finished product...
While we're at it. Here are some pictures of Lauren's big girl room. She's still in her toddler bed because quite frankly her big girl bed is higher than me and Patrick's bed. We'll get her some rails later this year when it's time for Nick to take the toddler bed.
Kiddo updates
"Zerba, zerba, zerba, zerrrra." That's how Nicholas sounds right now. He's gotten very chatty lately and you can tell he's trying to tell you something important, but yeah, you can't make a word out. I usually respond with "Uh huh, what else?" and he'll nod in agreement. He does say a few real words, such as "Mamma," "Dadda," "bye-bye," and "nah-nah," (which means night-night). He can also show you where his tummy is and he will dance when he hears music. He especially loves the "We Did It" song from Dora the Explorer. He will stop everything he's doing to go stand in front of the TV and watch and dance to this song.
As for Lauren, she spends most of her day dressed like a drag queen. She LOVES to play dress-up so she typically looks like this...
She knows she looks cute 'cause she'll tell me to take her picture so we can show Dadda later. She's also pretty smart. The other day we didn't let her have a snack after lunch because she'd been bad. However, while she and Nick were taking naps Patrick and I had some cake. Well, later that night Lauren looked at me and we had this conversation:
Lauren: "Did you have cake after lunch?"
Me: "why?"
Lauren (smiling): "Why did you say 'why'?"
Me: "Why did you ask if I had cake?"
Lauren (smiling): "Because there's a big rectangle missing."
It's hard to get stuff past her these days.
